Introduction to Ashkelon
The purpose of this new section of the Educate website is to provide teachers with resources to familiarize their students with the excavation site in Ashkelon, provide a brief history of the ancient cities/people who occupied the site of Ashkelon over the years, introduce the concept of vertical timelines and basic skills to think like an archaeologist, introduce connections the ancient cities of Ashkelon had to the great ancient world, and show Ashkelon’s contributions to and significance in the ancient world.
Students will have opportunities engage with archaeologists to learn about ancient Ashkelon. Students will use primary sources in the form artifacts and videos of architectural remains to make connections between and amongst the ancient world and modern day.
